What to know prior to checking into your boat

Blue Ocean Yacht Charters, located in Key West, Florida, welcomes you!  As excited as you are to get here, this video will prepare you for checking into the boat and what to expect.  Check in is between 3-5pm, however not guaranteed at 3pm. Our crew will do the best they can to get you checked into the boat as soon as possible. If you are arriving prior to your scheduled check in time, you can politely ask the front desk of the Perry hotel if they can hold your luggage until your check in time.

One of our representatives will be reaching out to you the day before you arrive to coordinate your check in time and location. The day you arrive, that representative will schedule your check in time with you.  If you reschedule your check in time, you may have to wait to check in an hour or two when you arrive.  Please feel free to use the pool, restaurants, and other Perry Hotel amenities if you have to wait to check in.  Please note there is a $50 fee owed to our check in representative for every 30 mins you arrive after the scheduled time you were suppose to arrive.  There is a $50 fee for every hour you are are scheduled to check in at after 5:00 pm.

Check out is prior to 10am.  Most likely our crew will be arriving at 10am to prepare the boat for the next charter, so please be mindful of this. If you are leaving prior than 10am, please let our crew know the time you are leaving.  Thank you and have a great time!

Parking policy at the Perry Hotel and Marina

This video will help you understand the parking policy at the Perry Hotel and Marina.  Please watch this video so you do not get towed.  Parking is free of charge for as many vehicles as you have. Golf carts or any other vehicle with four or more wheels needs a parking lot A pass in the drivers-side dash to park in the A-parking lot.  Any other parking lot pass displayed, besides the A lot pass will end up getting your vehicle towed.  Motorcycles and scooters must park in the designated motorcycle area at the entrance of the marina next to the Salty Oyster.  If they are parked in a regular vehicle parking spot or in the A-lot, they will get towed.

Your car will get towed if you are in the hotels north parking lot, so please do not park there even if you have a parking pass. If you have additional cars with you, a parking pass can be obtained from the marina for them to park overnight in the P lot behind the coffee and ice cream shops. Without a pass displayed in the drivers dash, your car will be towed. Your vehicle makes a great place to stow your luggage as space can be limited for these items after you unpack.

Water conservation on board (showers and washing dishes), how to operate the air-conditioning, parking policy revisited, and more….

This video will help you understand that the boat has a potable fresh water holding tank on board.  When you run out of water our crew has to come back and fill it up for you.  They will only be able to fill you up from the hours of 9am to 5pm so be careful not to run your water tank dry outside of these hours. Most of our guests buy drinking water as the water on board is not filtered.

Make sure not to set your air-conditioning too cold as it may cause the ac unit to fail.  This may leave you with a very warm boat until our crew is able to assist you.

How to operate the toilets/”Heads” onboard

This video will help you understand how to operate the toilets or heads on board.  This is probably what most of our guest have the hardest time remembering, so as nasty as this video topic is, its probably the most important.  Putting anything in the heads will damage them!  This is the number one reason customers loose their damage deposits.  Just putting toilet paper down the head could cost you $500.  One past customer dropped a contact lens case down the head and flushed it an we had to replace the entire toilet at a cost just over $2,000 and the customer had to pay for it.

Children have the most difficulty with this, so make sure to supervise and instruct them well. We provide waste baskets for your toilet paper and personal hygiene products in every bathroom on our boats.

Make sure their is always clear water in each toilet and make sure the water is not stained as this can really smell over time. If there is not enough water in the bowl, it will start to let the smell come through the head from the holding tanks that are located on board.  The water in the bowl is salt water and will carry a slight odor if left in the bowl too long, so if you don’t use a head for a while, its a good idea to flush every once in a while to bring fresh ocean water into it.

For peace of mind, use the marina restrooms and showers.
